Con Usura
Con usura el hombre no puede tener casa de buena piedra
con cada canto de liso corte y acomodo
para que el dibujo les cubra la cara,
con usura
no hay para el hombre paraísos pintados en los muros de su iglesia
harpes et luthes
o donde las vírgenes reciban los anuncios
y resplandores broten de los tajos,
con usura
no puede ver el hombre Gonzaga a sus herederos y sus concubinas
no se pinta cuadro para que dure y para la vida
sino para venderse y pronto
con usura, pecado contra natura,
es tu pan siempre de harapos viejos
es tu pan seco como el papel,
sin trigo de montaña, harina fuerte
con usura la línea se hincha
con usura no hay demarcación clara
y nadie puede hallar sitio para su morada.

With usura hath no man a house of good stone
each block cut smooth and well fitting
that design might cover their face,
with usura
hath no man a painted paradise on his church wall
